If your business is paella, marketing content is the saffron

Saffron, The World’s Most Expensive Food

Hi! I’m Andrea. Andrea Morris. (I learned that is THE way to introduce yourself). I work with small business on discovering the simplest, most focused marketing strategies they can get their mits on.

In a strange twist of fate — or not?? — they solve marketing overwhelm and make more money for their time.

Backstory:
I’ve been working with small business clients for years on creating marketing and website content.
After a too-long-ass time, I sat back in my fancy lumbar-support desk chair and said, “This isn’t working,” to my cat, Flutie, aka Flutes.

I was essentially creating marketing content to fulfill marketing strategies that didn’t exist, or that weren’t targeted to a specific audience.

It wasn’t helping my clients make more money, or get better clients/customers of their own.
Or spend more time with their kids, or walk away from their day jobs, or F.I.R.E., or grow a prize-winning tomato.

So I changed what I do.

Now I work with small business to define their marketing strategies BEFORE we create an ounce of content.

I treat the marketing content like saffron, The World’s Most Expensive Food. If paella is your business, we get the Spanish rice (the cheap, moderately easy part, in this case marketing strategy — was that obvious?) just right before tossing in the saffron.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR YOU, SMALL BUSINESS OWNER, OR ENTRE/SOLO-PRENEUR?

Well, let’s play a quick game of Would You Rather:

Would you rather: Hang out with your cat and make guacamole on the weekends? Or slog away on your marketing while guac happens around you?

Would you rather: Create marketing content that’s as easy and delicious as a bowl of Corn Chex for dinner? Or create marketing content under a directive from yourself to “Get all the customers, and get them now — or no soup (Chex) for you!”

Would you rather: Run a marathon downhill? Or start your Couch to 5K training by eating sundaes for 20 pounds?

I’ll let you think about this.

But know that I’ll be talking/writing about marketing, minimalism, messaging, focus, profitability, and other geeky-cool biz/marketing topics on this page going forward. Follow along, and I’ll keep it coming!

At some point, I’ll even clue you in to the meaning of ‘A Ripe Mango.'
